Apprenticeship Opportunity
Each year we offer an Apprenticeship for one or two students. In exchange for assisting Barbara with the delivery of classes and other duties involved in running the learning Centre we will waive all or part of the program fees for our certificate programs. In addition to reduced fees you will have the opportunity to work one on one with Barbara and accompany her on wild crafting expeditions. As an Apprentice your learning experience will be intense and advanced.
Heather LaLonde - 2009 Apprentice
Heather arrived in the Okanagan five years ago from the Ottawa Valley. She fell in love with the landscape and has spent her time here exploring BC’s wilderness and discovering all it has to offer. Heather has recently completed a Registered Yoga Teacher program and is committed to a life of opportunities to learn and developing a harmony with her surroundings that infiltrates all aspects of everyday life.
This journey will continue as she brings her skills, experience and gifts to support the work and common goals of Wild Roots Centre.
Besides her love of nature and yoga practice Heather enjoys camping, canoeing, beadwork and pine needle crafts.

Danielle Legault ~ "Baby Bear" ~ 2008 Apprentice
“I come from a family of healers and farmers/gardeners and I lovingly embrace the two together. I've always had my own vegtable garden and when working in the dirt, I couldn't be happier. I just love to experience the earth and all it has to offer. My life moto is : 'Live the life you love and love the life you live'.”
Danielle impressed us with her positive attitude and the enthusiasm in which she has embraced all of her duties as Apprentice. Her beautiful smile and sunny dispostion made her a joy to be around. For one so young she is nonetheless very Wise and we were thrilled to have her as part of our team!

Introducting our Beautiful Apprentices for 2010
Dawn Sharman
Dawn discovered Wild Roots Herbs last year and, after two days with Barb, knew she was needing more! The wisdom Barb has to share is filling an inner well of desire Dawn has always felt to be deeper connected to plants. Dawn is very excited about the apprenticeship, and plans to embrace each moment from a place of grace with an open heart so she can hear the stories the plants are speaking. Dawns story includes mothering her two boys, loving her husband, teaching yoga, massaging bodies and being a doula for birthing women.
Michelle Dallyn
Michelle has an extensive background in recreation and rehabilitation health and has taught primitve living skills - fire making, hide tanning, cordage to name a few - so we will for sure be getting a little more primitive this year!
More on Michelle coming soon.
